Wondering why.....
Some say that it is the "witching hour", ....some say "you went to bed too early" , but insomnia rears it's ugly head for me....It is sort of an alarm clock for me to exist in a different dimension than sleep.
After I shake off the nightmares,....(some too real for forgetting)....I adjust to the room, glad to be there instead of in the aforesaid nightmare....The blue night light assures me that it will be OK to walk about, so peeling off the comforter, I find my footing on the familiar carpet, feeling that someone wants me awake to decipher their message, be it for me or someone else....
Being quiet is key....
Food is not beckoning....
Just being aware and reading or writing is what has to happen....
Reading brings a glare from the monitor that screams..."YAHOO"....And, as always, there are the headlines, some so drastic to be unbelievable.... I scan my favourites....always wanting to sneak into Facebook, ( after all, my east coast 'friends' are up with coffee~!!)
Then comes the Pinterest page, gleaming, calling my name...Overnight pins begging to put in their places...
A yawn reminds me that I have been up now for an hour...just time enough to creep down the hallway, slide under the pile of covers, and do some shut-eye for a little while....But, headlines swirl about in my brain...and, I wonder who was watching over my shoulder at the PC?
Quiet...
Sure enough,....it is the time to get up....
Now, tonight, I shall try once again, ignoring whomever insisted that I rise....
Hmmmm....3:00 a.m.

Even if its early, it sounds so relaxing and comforting! My clock is set at midnight, which is when my little dog begs to do his business...hard to get back to sleep so I sometimes do a little Pinterest window shopping myself!
